Sunday morning forecast: Weather looks to cooperate with final day of Balloon Fiesta

The Eyewitness News 4 Team presents today’s major news events, business reports, weather information and traffic updates.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Dry weather and light winds should hopefully give Balloon Fiesta a good final day with a mass ascension.

The weather is dry across the area this morning, and winds around Albuquerque look light enough for Balloon Fiesta.

There will be some clouds at times, and warm weather will continue through the day.

High temperatures will stay near 80 degrees in Albuquerque, with a small chance for a shower or storm in western New Mexico during the afternoon.

Rain chances look a little higher near the Four Corners, while the morning hours should stay dry for Balloon Fiesta.

Tropical moisture from former Tropical Storm Rachel and Hurricane Simon in the Pacific will move north this weekend.

Most of the heavy rain threat will stay across Arizona, southern Utah, southern Nevada and southern California from Sunday into Monday.

New Mexico could see a few heavy storms at times near the Four Corners from Sunday into Monday and possibly along the western edge of the state.
