ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The “Baby T-Rex” balloon drew crowds at this year’s Balloon Fiesta.
Pilot Rex Alan Jennings said he lives in Vernal, Utah, which he called the dinosaur capital of the world.
“It’s just a fun balloon,” Jennings said. “I may take off with seven people when I land and we’re packing up. I don’t know where they come from, but we’ll wind up with 12-14 people helping us pack up.”
Kamarie Hearn is from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and serves as the balloon’s crew chief.
“There are people all around. And honestly, I love it as a as a crew chief, if I need some help with something, I can pick somebody from the audience and have them come help us on strap,” Hearn said.
Hearn said Jennings tries to get every member of his crew up at least once during Fiesta.
“It just it’s different there when when there’s that many balloons in your air in the air. But it’s so neat. That’s probably my favorite part about the Albuquerque Balloon Festival is being up there,” Hearn said.
