Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, discussed with the Sudanese Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasen Al-Yaqoub, the Nigerian Minister of Trade, Abdullah Sidou, and the Chadian Minister of Trade, Guibolo Mathieu, ways to organize and develop trade relations and regulate trade exchange between Libya and the three countries.
This came during separate meetings held on the sidelines of the forty-second session of the COMCEC Conference in the Turkish city of Istanbul from 31 October to 3 November 2026.
The Ministry reported that the meetings dealt with reviewing the trade agreements concluded between Libya and each country, and discussing updating and renewing them in line with current economic and trade changes, in addition to coordinating procedures related to customs and border ports, and developing financial and commercial frameworks that regulate the movement of trade exchange.
The ministers also agreed to identify points of contact between the relevant ministries, which will undertake the follow-up of joint files and coordination to prepare practical proposals to develop trade agreements and organize trade exchange between Libya, Sudan, Niger and Chad.
