The new Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Fawzi Abu Khazam, took the legal oath before the Speaker of the House of Representatives and several members of the House today.
This action was taken in accordance with the House of Representatives’ resolution dated 2 November 2, 2026, appointing him as Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, and serves to fulfil the legal requirements for him to assume his official duties.
The CBL said this step comes at a critical juncture that demands the strengthening of monetary and financial stability, the consolidation of confidence in the banking sector, and the development of monetary policy instruments. It also entails enhancing coordination and cooperation with state institutions and relevant stakeholders, all in service of the public interest and in support of the country’s economic stability.
The CBL reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its mandated functions and responsibilities, working to enhance the efficiency of the banking sector, and developing financial and banking services—all in pursuit of its objectives and in compliance with the laws and regulations that govern its operations.
