Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Kulubaev and Kallas discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint investment projects in transport, energy, the green economy and digitalization aimed at deepening and expanding economic ties, including at the regional level.
The Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan stressed the importance of developing mutually beneficial partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the EU, reaffirming the republic’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment and transport connectivity.
The EU High Representative expressed support for Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral political partnership and confirmed the European side’s readiness to further cooperate in all areas of mutual interest.
Kulubaev also briefed the EU representative in detail on Kyrgyzstan’s efforts to prevent possible sanctions circumvention and stressed the importance of communicating the republic’s objective position on the matter to EU member states and relevant institutions.
The parties agreed to continue work on sanctions-related matters in order to address emerging issues in a timely manner and develop mutually acceptable solutions.
