U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Uzbekistan in October at the head of a large business delegation. In Samarkand, he will take part in a C5+1 meeting and hold talks on trade, investment and economic cooperation.
According to Podrobno.uz, the upcoming visit was announced by Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Envoy to South and Central Asia. He said the delegation would include representatives of more than 100 U.S. companies.
The main goal of the visit will be to expand trade and investment opportunities between the United States and Uzbekistan. The U.S. side also plans to discuss support for economic modernization and the development of business ties in Central Asia.
As part of the visit, Rubio will attend a ministerial meeting in the C5+1 format with the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The talks are expected to focus on regional economic connectivity, energy security and other shared priorities of Central Asian countries and the United States.
The U.S. Secretary of State will also meet with Uzbekistan’s leadership and his regional counterparts. Particular attention will be paid to increasing trade, attracting private investment and further developing economic partnership.
