Kyrgyzstan and Haiti have established diplomatic relations, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

Diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Haiti were established on September 25.

A meeting took place in New York — on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly—between Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev and his Haitian counterpart, Raina Forbin. The parties signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to developing and expanding ties with Latin American and Caribbean nations, including Haiti.

The parties also discussed current issues regarding cooperation within international organizations.

Following the meeting, the officials reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation and further developing friendly relations.
