It seems like it was just yesterday that we were talking to Paul and Kristi Hack about the upcoming 2026 Casper Spuds baseball season, which was just a few months away. Time has flown by so quickly that the season is now underway.
The Spuds opened the season winning two of a three-game series in Pierre, South Dakota, to play the Oahe Zap. Now, The Boys Are Back In Town, and the team will get fired up for their season home opener at Mike Lansing Field.
Home opener week begins with two exhibition games against the Casper Legion team, the Oilers, on Tuesday and Wednesday, before welcoming the first Independence League team of the year, the Spearfish Sasquatch, on Thursday.
Friday will be a special night, as prior to game two with the Sasquatch, the Spuds will induct five former Spuds’ greats into the Spuds Legacy Club. This year’s inductions will feature two players from Casper and three others who spent multiple seasons with the Spuds in Casper.

Then, on Saturday, the Spuds are inviting fans to meet and greet the team at and join in on the launch party with Black Tooth Brewery from 3 – 7 p.m. at the brewery on David Street in Downtown Casper.
This season will undoubtedly be a memorable one for the Spuds as they’re looking to bounce back and take a run at their second ILB Championship in three years.
