Oil City News presents: VOICES w/ Lyric Wall

Every week, Oil City News presents VOICES, a series of questions designed for members of the community to share their upcoming events and activities, happening throughout Casper. Each week, a new voice will be heard. This week’s edition of VOICES features Lyric Wall, the Recreation Coordinator for the City of Casper Recreation Division. To be a part of VOICES and share your own upcoming events, email Nick@Oilcity.news.

What upcoming event for your organization are you excited about, and what pro tips or advice do you have for making the most of the experience?

“We have been gearing up for our youth camps here at the Casper Recreation Division, and it’s honestly one of my favorite times of the year. We offer a variety of camps for different interests and age groups, everything from our Adventure Camp for ages 6-12, to our Casper Youth Leadership Camp for ages 11-14, along with Youth Hockey Camp at the Casper Ice Arena, and our Girls Sports Discovery Camp.

“For families looking to jump in, my biggest piece of advice is to register early and encourage your kids to try something new. These camps are such a great opportunity for kids to build confidence, make friends, and stay active throughout the summer.”

What are two other upcoming events in the community (not associated with your organization) that you’re excited for, and why?

“I’m really looking forward to David Street Station’s Amplify Youth Fest on June 27th. It’s such a fun and inspiring event that gives kids and teens a platform to explore their creativity, whether that’s through music, art or just being around others who share their passions.

“I am also excited for the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day event. This will be my second year volunteering, and it’s one of those events that just reminds you what it means to be a kid in our community. It is full of energy, smiles, and hands-on activities, and it really showcases all the amazing opportunities families have here in Casper.”

Beyond the individual experiences, how do you see events like these contributing to the unique spirit and sense of community here in Casper?

“I find that events like these are what truly bring our community together. They create spaces where families can connect, kids can grow, and people from all walks of life can share in something positive. In Casper, we have this really special sense of pride and support for one another, and community events help strengthen that. Whether you’re volunteering, participating, or just showing up, you feel like you’re part of something bigger!”
