Gary Dean Garvin: 1960 – 2026

Gary Dean Garvin left this world unexpectedly on May 5, 2026 much like his arrival on August 10, 1960, where Gary joined the world at a little under four pounds. Having overcome some early health challenges, he went on to prosper in many aspects of life.

Gary began a life-long career in landscaping construction in 1978 with the forming of J (Jerre) & G (Gary) Landscaping. This business would span the next 47 years, with semi-retirement coming in May of 2025. The business afforded him numerous opportunities to beautify the landscape in and around Casper. He was always ready to take on new and challenging projects, innovating along the way, always looking for a way to “shave minutes” off the process and making labor more efficient with enhanced technology. With quicker, better machinery, the pursuit of ways to improve the quality was recognized in the finished product. Gary made many lifelong business relationships with other entrepreneurs, maintained friendships with past employees, and enjoyed sharing his experiences with friends and family. He had a vast knowledge of a wide range of subjects, history being his greatest passion.

While maintaining the landscaping business he and his father founded, he took up the sport of fishing and looked forward to becoming a skilled walleye fisherman. He recently purchased the Ranger boat of his dreams and envisioned spending the coming days on Glendo Reservoir.

Gary dated the love of his life starting in the early high school years and went on make Cindy Klein his wife in 1989. Their family grew with the birth of Cory in 1995 and Benjamin in 1999; these precious boys made their family complete. Gary loved his family deeply and hoped to travel and enjoy more time with his sons in their homes in California and Idaho.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy; sons Cory (Nikki) and Benjamin (Elly); his mother, Shirley; sisters: Cheryl, Cathy (Dan), and Connie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerre, in 2003; and his grandparents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Restoration Church in Casper, Wyoming with a reception to follow.

Jack W. Lore: 1943 – 2026

Jack was born in Douglas, Wyoming on January 29, 1943. He passed May 6, 2026 after dealing with cancer for over five years. He was the only child of Glen and Joan (Miles) Lore. Douglas was his home for 12 years of schooling, followed by Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri. He returned to his hometown and married Sara Crane in 1964. By 1967, the couple relocated to Casper where they raised children Marcy and Chad. Sara passed in 2008, after 44 years together.

Jack was born blind in one eye, so did not participate much in sports. Instead, he excelled in many forms of music. By age five he and his Aunt Myrtle Miles entertained at a local Dude Ranch and many service club functions around Wyoming. He enjoyed piano, church choirs, school band and a quartet with friends. In college Jack participated in the marching and dance bands as well as vocal groups. In Casper he helped start the Oil City Slickers Barbershop Chorus, serving as both president or director at times.

In early years, Jack enjoyed representing New York Life Insurance Co., but advancing with their management program required relocating. He made the choice to stay in Casper and raise his family in Wyoming. From that point on most of his work related to the building trades which he had learned from his father. He retired from sales for Rex Robertson Co. (Pella) after 29 years and spent retirement perfecting his mountain cabin.

Widowed in 2008, he joined Casper Civic Chorale where he met Kathy Andren who was also widowed. By 2010, they honeymooned in Hawaii and returned often. Together they enjoyed many golden years of travel, cabin, family, and pets.

He is survived by Kathy; Marcy (Dan) Odell; Chad Lore; stepdaughters: Erica (Gil) Reyes, Heather (Brad) Adels; also by grandchildren: Jo LaPerriere; Elena, Luke, and Sam Lore; step-grands, Bradyn, Brooks, and Harper Adels. He will be greatly missed but forever loved and remembered, especially for his stories!

A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Casper on Saturday, May 16 at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the following local charitable organizations would be appreciated. Jason’s Friends, 1701 East E Street, Casper, WY 82601; Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 South Wilson, Casper, WY 82601, or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, PO Box 2222, Casper, WY 82602.
