CASPER, Wyo. — Charges have been filed for a 21-year-old Casper man accused of trying to rob a man at gunpoint on May 11, 2025. The incident led to an exchange of gunfire that left one dead and one critically injured in the ICU a month after the shooting.
Jadin Zander Triplett, 21, was arrested Friday on a warrant that Casper police signed on June 11, 2025, recommending charges of murder in the first degree. The district attorney’s office has charged aggravated assault and battery and conspiracy to commit the same.
Wyoming law holds that anyone who intentionally commits a felony like robbery can be held responsible for murder in the first degree if a death occurs as a direct result of the crime, even if the defendant is not the principal actor.
Triplett appeared in circuit court Monday, where a $100,000 cash or surety bond was assessed by Judge Nichole Colleir. Tiplett is presumed innocent unless found or pleading guilty.
The shooting left Triplett’s accomplice, 20-year-old Anicio Kane Bernard, dead from a gunshot wound after collapsing on the steps of a Fox Hills Apartment building while Triplett and his girlfriend fled.
The Casper Police Department investigation says that Triplett had been upset that a man living at the apartment had stolen his gun in the weeks prior. Police say Triplett and Bernard showed up to the apartment armed. Detectives reviewed social media posts between Triplett and the man at the apartment where Triplett says “I’m coming for you cuz.”
Several witnesses said Bernard had pointed the gun at the man on the couch and said “give me all your s—,” according to the affidavit. Triplett reportedly told his police his weapon hadn’t fired. The man on the couch reportedly had a gun and returned fire. Police found two types of shell casings in the apartment.
