CASPER, Wyo. — With successful stores on the east and west sides of Natrona County, local vape shop Dr. Chronic’s Concentrates and Vapes will soon celebrate the grand opening of a new store in Casper. It will be located at 840 CY Ave., the former home of the Backdoor Lounge.
Dr. Chronic’s began as a Casper-based business roughly three years ago before relocating to Evansville in 2023. Since then, it has built up a loyal customer base that allowed it to open a second location in Mills in fall 2024. Now, owner Cielo Guerra said he’s eager to return to the Oil City.
“It’s exciting,” Guerra said. “We’re on the east side and the west side, and now we’re on what I call the south side because of how close we are to the mountain. So it’s like we’ve got our own triangle here in the community.”
While some vape shops have struggled since the Wyoming legislature banned synthetic products like delta-8 and delta-9, Guerra said Dr. Chronic’s has been able to thrive. He says this is in large part due to the 24/7 delivery service that the business has operated since its inception.
“Whether you’re getting off work late, getting off work early, hosting a party at your house, coming home from the bar or just can’t make it out to the store, we’ll deliver to you anytime,” he said. “That’s a service no other vape shop in Wyoming offers. … It’s been absolutely vital to us.”
General manager Tina-Marie Carter added that their knowledgeable and friendly staff play a big role in the business’s success.
“We’re open to all walks of life, and I’ve had multiple people tell me that they feel comfortable when they’re at Dr. Chronic’s,” Carter said. “Our people are able to teach and explain our products to customers, to help them understand and figure out what works best for them.”
Guerra said he always thought the CY Avenue location was a prime spot for a store, and jumped at the opportunity when the property became available.
When open, the store will make full use of its space, including the drive-through, he added.
The new Dr. Chronic’s will celebrate its grand opening on June 14, and is planning to mark the occasion in style. The business will be hosting a celebration kicking off at noon that will feature live music and a set by DJ Nyke, food, raffles, giveaways, deals and more. Festivities will begin at noon and continue into the night.
Looking ahead, Guerra said he hopes to expand to other communities in Wyoming, and potentially beyond. He’s already looked into the possibility of opening stores in Riverton, Sheridan and Gillette, as well as Colorado and South Dakota.
“Dr. Chronic’s isn’t just a company now, it’s a brand,” he said. “We’ve got an identity that people recognize. It’s really awesome to see.”
