Elevated fire conditions as temperatures, winds rise in Casper area on Friday

CASPER, Wyo. – High temperatures, dry conditions and gusty winds are making for elevated to critical fire conditions in central and western Wyoming.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Friday will see a high of 95 degrees and afternoon gusts up to 45 mph. Gusts above 50 mph are possible in some windier areas.

Saturday will be somewhat cooler and calmer, with a high around 90 degrees and blustery wind gusts up to 33 mph.

Natrona County will see a cooling trend come Sunday and Monday, as highs reach the upper 70s. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely.

Highs in the low 80s are expected as next week progresses, said the NWS.
