South Korea’s Unification Ministry on Monday said it plans to donate 166 types of medical equipment to one of North Korea’s newest major hospitals should it accept them, despite the regime’s ballistic missile launches two days earlier.

“We are preparing to launch the relevant project immediately if the North responds positively,” a ministry spokesperson said during a news briefing Monday. 

Asked whether it was appropriate to provide medical supplies to North Korea’s Kangdong County Hospital at a time when Pyongyang continues to launch ballistic missiles, the spokesperson said humanitarian concerns needed to be addressed separately from politics.

The ministry
