The Kyrgyz National Agrarian University (KNAU) and Altai State Agricultural University signed a memorandum.
KNAU noted that the agro-industrial complex is one of the key areas of economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. Growing demand for food, the development of integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), production modernization, and the need to ensure food security are creating new opportunities for deepening partnerships in the agricultural sector.
During the recent Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum, the session «Prospects for Russian-Kyrgyz Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector» served as a platform for discussing the prospects for developing joint projects in crop production, livestock farming, agricultural processing, logistics, and agricultural technology.
Participants discussed expanding mutual food trade, improving the efficiency of production chains, attracting investment in the agro-industrial complex, and introducing modern technologies into agriculture.
Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, access for agricultural producers to sales markets, the creation of joint ventures, developing export potential, and using support mechanisms from development institutions and financial organizations.
In her speech, KNAU Rector Nurzat Totubaeva noted that universities are becoming the platform where the future of the agricultural sector is shaped.
According to her, Kyrgyzstan and Russia have historically been strategic partners.
«Today, our countries face common challenges: ensuring food security, technological modernization of the agro-industrial complex, adaptation to climate change, and training a new generation of specialists. To achieve all this, we have to join our scientific potential, create joint educational products, develop youth science, support academic mobility, and create a unified knowledge space. And if we combine our efforts today in training young specialists, tomorrow they will unite our countries with new scientific discoveries, modern technologies, and successful agricultural projects,» Nurzat Totubaeva noted.
