Press secretary of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Askat Alagozov, said the VI World Nomad Games were held at a high level and concluded as a major sporting celebration.

According to him, the kok-boru and zher-ulak competitions were particularly spectacular, with the teams from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan demonstrating a high level of play.

Alagozov stressed that the sporting rivalry remained exclusively on the field of competition, while there were no disagreements between supporters of the two countries.

He also commented on the situation with the medal standings. According to him, the only technical discrepancy arose during the medal count.

Today, the organizing committee decided to count separately the medals won by each of the three Kazakh athletes.

Following the recount, Kazakhstan took first place in the overall team standings.

«Congratulations to our Kazakh brothers on their victory,» the presidential press secretary said.

He added that Kyrgyz athletes also performed well at the Games and demonstrated their strength and skill.

According to Alagozov, the medal standings are only one component of the competition. He identified the primary outcome of the Games as the hosting of tournaments in an atmosphere of mutual respect and fair play, alongside the demonstration of unity between the Kyrgyz and Kazakh peoples.

The VI World Nomad Games were held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The opening ceremony took place on August 31 at Bishkek Arena, after which the main sporting, cultural and scientific events continued in Issyk-Kul region.

The final kokpar and kok-boru competitions were held on September 6 in Cholpon-Ata, followed by the Games’ closing ceremony that evening.
