Former President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov commented on politician Azimbek Beknazarov’s claim that his resignation letter was allegedly written under pressure from Kamchybek Tashiev.
In a conversation with Meder Shermetaliev, head of Kabar news agency, the former president stated that such claims are untrue.
«No one intimidated me. The decision to resign as president was made after ten days of negotiations with then-Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov. Everyone knows this,» Jeenbekov said.
According to him, claims that he was allegedly forced to write his resignation letter are fictitious and have no connection to the actual events of October 2020.
«When someone says that Tashiev forced Jeenbekov to write a resignation letter, that’s simply a fabricated story and the false opinion of people who don’t know what happened then. Why such statements were made is beyond me,» the former president noted.
Jeenbekov also emphasized that he hadn’t commented on political issues for the past five years, but decided to speak out now to prevent a distortion of the events of that period.
