Legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday. She had been unwell for the past few days and was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. She was 92 years old.
Renowned singer Asha Bhosle’s son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed her passing. He stated, “My mother passed away today. People can pay their final tributes to her tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM at Casa Grande in Lower Parel, where she resided. Her funeral will be held on Monday evening at 4:00 PM at Shivaji Park.”
Asha Bhosle’s demise in 2026 marks a significant loss for the Indian artistic fraternity. Earlier on Saturday, her granddaughter, Zanai, had shared an update regarding her health on Instagram, writing: “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, has been admitted to the hospital due to extreme weakness and a chest infection. We request that you respect our privacy. She is currently undergoing treatment, and we are hopeful that everything will be fine. We will certainly keep you all updated.”
Asha Bhosle was the younger sister of the legendary singer, the late Lata Mangeshkar. She recorded over 12,000 songs across various Indian languages and lent her voice to numerous prominent actresses—ranging from South Indian stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala to Bollywood actresses like Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, and Urmila Matondkar.
