Nara Lokesh, Minister of Education and IT, announced that the government is promoting the use of solar power throughout the state. He also announced a plan to set up a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Tirupati. On Tuesday, Minister Lokesh laid the foundation stone for Suzlon wind power project in Hulikera, Kanekallu Mandal, Rayadurgam constituency in Anantapur district.
The minister also commissioned the production lines for Suzlon’s newly-developed S144 blades. Suzlon plans to set up wind power projects worth 1,325 MW in Anantapur district. The company is estimated to invest 10,000 crore rupees in the proposed projects. It said that the wind power projects would provide direct and indirect employment to 4,000 people.

Suzlon is already a major player in the wind power generation in the state with over 1,700 MW of renewable power capacity in the state. The company has proposed to add 5,000 MW more renewable power projects by 2030 and is working towards the target.
