A new road tragedy has struck the island of Lesvos, with two women killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Panagiouda–Moria road, almost at the exact location where two teenage boys lost their lives in a fatal accident in late May.

According to reports, the car carrying the two women overturned under circumstances that remain unclear and crashed into a nearby power pole close to the site of the earlier tragedy.

One of the women died at the scene, while the second succumbed to her injuries while being transported to hospital.

Local reports indicate that one of the victims was from Australia.

The latest fatal crash has shocked the local community, coming just weeks after a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were killed in a collision a short distance from the same location.

Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
