Hellas pulled off a huge result, conquering the home of the league leaders. The 1–2 win was celebrated with real fire by the travelling supporters who travelled to the Greek Australian cauldron of Oakleigh for the derby.

South Melbourne struck first on 61 minutes through David Yoo — his maiden goal in Hellas colours.

The second arrived at 74 minutes, Marco Jankovic making it 2–0 and sending the away end into full voice.

Cannons pushed hard late, moved the ball well and chased a comeback, but all they managed was a stoppage–time consolation in the 94th minute from centre–back Jacob Tratt.

The win lifts Hellas above Alexandros and into fifth place on the ladder.

Cannons, meanwhile, remain firmly on top, having already secured first place in the regular season.
