Oakleigh Grammar student Nathanael Anastasiou has been recognised among Victoria’s highest-achieving VCE students, receiving a Premier’s VCE Award for Excellence in Greek.

Anastasiou was one of only three students across the state to receive the prestigious award for Greek, recognising his outstanding performance in the subject.

Oakleigh Grammar Principal Mark Robertson congratulated Nathanael on the achievement, describing it as a testament to his dedication and work ethic.

“Nathanael is highly motivated and dedicated to his studies. It is a credit to his hard work and determination that he has received a Premier’s VCE Award for outstanding achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education for Greek,” Mr Robertson said.

“This exceptional accomplishment is all the more noteworthy as Nathanael completed Units 3 and 4 Greek while in Year 11. Mr Panagopoulos, Nathanael’s Greek teacher, is to be commended for his outstanding mentorship and guidance.

“It is clear Nathanael has brought the same dedicated approach to his Year 12 studies, and we look forward to supporting him and his peers through the remainder of their final school year.”

Anastasiou’s success follows another recognition at the end of 2025, when he became the inaugural recipient of the Philanthropic Society Nomoy Kavalas Agios Silas Award for excellence in VCE Greek.

This year’s Premier’s VCE Awards honoured 322 of Victoria’s highest-performing students, including three international students, eight students who completed the VCE Vocational Major with distinction, and 23 Top All-Round VCE High Achievers who achieved study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE subjects.

Oakleigh Grammar said Anastasiou’s achievement reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence and serves as an inspiration to its students.
