Democratic Congressmember Stevens Endorses MAGA Republican Rogers in Michigan’s Senate Election
Nov 02, 2026
In Michigan, Democratic Congressmember Haley Stevens switched her endorsement from progressive Dr. Abdul El-Sayed to Trump-backed MAGA Republican Mike Rogers just two days before an election that could decide control of the U.S. Senate. Stevens narrowly lost to El-Sayed in the Democratic Senate primary back in August. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the move “a despicable betrayal,” and several members of Stevens’s staff resigned, including her chief of staff. On Sunday, Stevens appeared with Rogers at a Black church in Detroit. The DNC’s Black Caucus chair Virgie Rollins said in a statement, “We are dismayed that Congresswoman Haley Stevens has revealed herself to be a sellout who used Black Michiganders for a political stunt.” And Drop Site News reports that a spokesperson for the Mike Rogers campaign, Abigail Ronson, is a registered foreign agent for Israel, as well as another campaign staffer, Jesse Stokes. In the hours following Stevens’s endorsement of Rogers, El-Sayed raised $1.2 million. This is Dr. El-Sayed speaking on Sunday.
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: “I have a sense that you all are here today because of the decisions of somebody who’s not here right now. Am I right about that? But I’m just going to tell you, this is a state of 10 million people who deserve a lot better from the government. I’m a lot more focused on the 9,999,998 that are not the ones you guys are talking about. OK? They pay too much in gas. They pay too much in groceries. They’re worried about the quality of their kids’ schools. They’re worried about the quality of the air and the water that they drink. That’s what we should be focused on.”
On Sunday, Congressmember Haley Stevens was grilled by CNN’s Anderson Cooper about switching her endorsement just days before the election.
Anderson Cooper: “Back in August, you posted on social media, quote, ‘Mike Rogers will be another rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s dangerous agenda. We can’t afford to give MAGA another Senate seat in November.’ How do you — why is it OK now? Why can you afford now to give MAGA another Senate seat in November?”
Rep. Haley Stevens: “Well, why is it OK to have the Democratic Party and a top nominee, you know, ejecting, you know, this type of — or, injecting, rather, this type of anger and lack of kindness? That’s all. I’m one Democrat.”
Federal Judge Orders Trump Admin to Halt Pressure Campaign Against Election Officials
Nov 02, 2026
A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to halt its recent pressure campaign against election officials nationwide. U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson said in her ruling Friday, “Although Defendants claim that their actions are designed to halt unlawful voting by noncitizens, their actions are likely to have the effect of interfering with election administration and disenfranchising lawful voters.” According to the ruling, the Justice and Homeland Security departments cannot demand that election officials in any state segregate ballots, purge voters or halt ballot processing. Judge Thompson also blocked threats of criminal prosecutions against election officials.

In Alaska, a federal judge has rejected a Trump administration lawsuit that was seeking to block certification of Tuesday’s Senate election if Republican Senator Dan Sullivan loses to Democrat Mary Peltola. The Justice Department claimed a second candidate on the ballot with a nearly identical name, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., was running to confuse voters, and asked the court to set aside and investigate ballots cast for him. U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason wrote in her ruling that the federal government “offers no rebuttal to the concerns regarding preservation of the secrecy of voting and provides no explanation of how its request for ballot segregation and a court-ordered investigation by law enforcement officers into certain voters’ intent could be implemented while preserving the secrecy of the ballot.” This follows The New York Times’s recent report that operatives from the Peltola campaign had recruited Daniel J. Sullivan to run to peel votes away from the incumbent Republican senator. Peltola has denied the claims.
Federal Appeals Panel Refuses DOJ’s Request for California to Segregate Ballots Supposedly from Noncitizens
Nov 02, 2026
A federal appeals panel on Friday refused the Trump administration’s request to have California set aside about 20,000 mail ballots supposedly sent to noncitizens. The order said, “If the United States believes different procedures are necessary for vote-by-mail ballots, we believe it should take that suggestion to Congress, not the courts.” This comes as the Trump administration has subpoenaed county election workers in California and charged 28 people with breaking federal election laws. California Attorney General Rob Bonta said, “The administration’s baseless claims of widespread fraud are an attempt to sow doubt in our democratic process and risk disenfranchising eligible voters. We will keep fighting to uphold the rule of law.”
GOP Senator Marshall Releases New Ad About His Medical Practice after Democratic Attacks
Nov 02, 2026
Republican Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas is out with a new ad against Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton’s attacks over Marshall’s medical practice. In the ad, Marshall says, “To ensure that 40,000 Kansans still had access to care, we did have to keep the lights on. So we occasionally handed accounts over to collection agencies.” A New York Times investigation found that Marshall, an OB-GYN in rural Kansas, sued more than 700 patients over unpaid bills. One of those patients, Meischa Zimmerman, filed a class-action suit last week alleging a predatory collection scheme and interest charges above Kansas’s legal cap over a missed $50 payment. Zimmerman was arrested while eight months pregnant.

The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery.”

A federal judge in Miami again dismissed President Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, over a story reporting on Trump’s ties with the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles said Trump was “grasping at straws,” and threw out the lawsuit “with prejudice” — meaning the dismissal is permanent and Trump cannot refile it. Trump’s lawsuit came after the Journal published an investigation last year describing Trump’s contribution to a letter that included a sketch drawing of a naked woman to a birthday album for Epstein’s 50th birthday. The letter was later released publicly by Congress, which subpoenaed the records from Epstein’s estate.
Federal Court Refuses to Dismiss NAACP Lawsuit Against Elon Musk’s SpaceX
Nov 02, 2026
A federal court in Mississippi has refused to dismiss a lawsuit by the NAACP accusing SpaceX of violating the Clean Air Act by running gas-fired combustion turbines to power its AI data centers. The NAACP brought the case in April against xAI, the AI company which is owned and operated by SpaceX. The ruling comes just two weeks after the same court rejected a request from the Justice Department to end the case against Elon Musk’s company.
Thousands Rally in Tel Aviv Demanding Opposition Form a Jewish-Arab Coalition to Oust Netanyahu
Nov 02, 2026
In Israel, thousands rallied in Tel Aviv Saturday, demanding that opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot form a Jewish-Arab coalition to end Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rule following last week’s deadlocked election. Palestinian-led parties surged to 19 seats, which is enough to give a possible anti-Netanyahu coalition a parliamentary majority of 67 seats. But opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot has previously ruled out governing with Arab parties. On Thursday, activists protested outside his home. This is Amir Badran, the deputy mayor of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality, who is a Palestinian citizen of Israel.
Amir Badran: “I am here to support Gadi Eisenkot, to say that you must be brave. You must be brave enough to lead us for another government. You have the — you have the force. You have the seats. You have the support of the Arab List. And this is what you should do. You know, in time of history, there is time that you should take this opportunity and go ahead and just be brave enough to do it, because this is what the people of Israel need, this is what Palestinians need. We need a hope. We need — we need something to build for our society to a living together society.”
Israeli Strikes Kill Eight Palestinians in Gaza
Nov 02, 2026
In Gaza, Israeli strikes killed at least eight Palestinians, including five police officers, on Sunday. Since last October’s so-called ceasefire, at least 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. Palestinians held a funeral for the slain police officers. This is Khaled Mansour, who attended the funeral.
Khaled Mansour: “This entire ceasefire is ink on paper. On the ground, the massacres are ongoing, and the slaughtering is ongoing. Only God knows about everything.”
Tens of Thousands of People Protest Across Germany
Nov 02, 2026
In Germany, about 182,000 people across more than 30 cities participated in protests organized by the campaign group “Gen Z Regelt,” “Gen Z takes charge.” The activists demand increased spending on schools and are against plans to return to mandatory military service. This is a spokesperson for Gen Z Regelt, Lina Friedrich.
Lina Friedrich: “We are here today to fight for peace and freedom, rather than for war and oppression. What matters most to us is better support for the health and education systems. We are against compulsory military service, and we are in favor of a fairer sharing of the burden.”
320,000 People Participate in France’s Third Weekend of Protests
Nov 02, 2026
In France, about 320,000 people took part in the third weekend of protests over the rising cost of living. The demonstrations drew a mix of high school students, trade unionists and yellow-vest activists. Authorities reported 565 arrests and five security officers injured in Paris. Students are planning more school blockades this week before a union-led strike day on Thursday, November 5. This is the mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko.
Mayor Bally Bagayoko: “High school and university students, especially those from working-class neighborhoods, have the right to demand true equality. I also wish to express my full support for all trade union organizations and for everyone who is mobilizing against the high cost of living. This is about political choices that have been made. These political choices must, of course, be challenged, first and foremost in the streets, and, I hope, at the ballot box, as well.”

Nov 02, 2026

I assure you, because you have committed voter theft, we will not let you escape. Strict legal action will be taken against Modi, Shah and Kumar, and justice will be delivered to the people.”

The United Kingdom has barred Swedish climate scholar and Palestinian rights advocate Andreas Malm from entering the country. The travel ban came just days before Malm was scheduled to speak at a conference featuring the co-founder of Palestine Action, Huda Ammori. The British government has designated Palestine Action as a “terrorist” group, arresting and prosecuting dozens of activists. Malm told Al Jazeera he believes he was denied entry to the U.K. due to his participation on the panel. He said, “This is a drift toward authoritarianism that didn’t begin with me, and it’s not going to end with me either.”
Former U.K. Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said on social media, “We know why the government has taken this decision: because it wants to silence criticism of Israel, as well as its own complicity in genocide.”
Malm is a professor at Lund University in Sweden and the author of several books, including “The Destruction of Palestine Is the Destruction of the Earth.”

In Texas, a Houston grand jury has indicted an ICE agent who was captured on surveillance video running over an immigrant construction worker earlier this month. Mario Alberto Morales is facing state charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after striking Miguel Parra Hernandez with an unmarked ICE vehicle. In newly released footage, Hernandez is seen face down on the pavement after being hit with the vehicle, crying out in pain. Morales is then seen standing over Hernandez and saying, “You got hit with the car, bro.” The agent is also heard saying, “I was coming in and I hit him with the car.” Hernandez is currently in ICE custody with a broken leg and other injuries. ICE quickly claimed Hernandez ran in front of the vehicle. But Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare has accused the agent of deliberately running over Hernandez and said the allegations by ICE were “false” and “reckless.” This marks the first time a federal immigration agent is indicted in Texas. Hernandez has lived in Houston since he first migrated to the United States from Mexico as a teenager in the 1990s. Hernandez was headed to work when ICE agents ambushed him.
