Techo International Airport marks first anniversary, prepares for Francophonie Summit (VIDEO)

Cambodia marked the first anniversary of Techo International Airport’s operations with a Buddhist blessing ceremony on October 20.

Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Venerable Am Limheng, Supreme Patriarch of the Mahanikaya Order, and attended by senior executives of Techo International Airport.

Oknha Charles Vann, Managing Director of the Cambodia Airport Investment Co (CAIC), said Techo International Airport, a project supported by the Royal Government, had completed its first year of operations.

Vann said:

“Looking back at the journey from the very beginning, this entire airport investment has been the result of the hard work and dedication of Cambodians.

Throughout this process, we have encountered various challenges across the first, second and third phases, but we have managed to overcome them effectively and achieve positive results. The results may not be excellent, but they are good, as the challenges related to passenger traffic have not exceeded what we anticipated and were prepared to manage.

Despite the current economic difficulties, which have made the situation less than smooth, we have not given up. Instead, we have worked hard together under the leadership of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, specifically under the guidance of HE Mao Havannall, to ensure that our internal management remains free of risks. We are now pleased to be ready to serve the Royal Government by hosting the upcoming Francophonie Summit.

The event will involve a large delegation. Looking ahead to next month, our entire team at the international airport is fully prepared to welcome delegates, including various heads of state, attending the Francophonie Summit.

Samdech Hun Manet is leading the overall preparations for the summit. Consequently, all of us working at the airport have completed our preparations to welcome guests, including high-level leaders, and facilitate the arrival of special aircraft at the international airport. We are very pleased to be ready to undertake this important task in November.”
