South Korea plans to revive a railway linking the two Koreas by allocating roughly $17.5 million to restore the southern section of the Gyeongwon Line, while separately slashing funds for a government-led North Korean human rights foundation by 90%, according to the Unification Ministry’s annual budget proposal.

The ministry proposed a $740.4 million (1 trillion won) budget for the next fiscal year, a 0.91% increase from the previous year, of which $17.5 million will be spent on restoring a small section of the 223.7-kilometer Gyeongwon Line connecting Seoul and Wonsan city in North Korea.
