AKIPRESS.COM – Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been transferred back to prison following several days in the hospital, Reuters reports, citing the politician’s party.

The 73-year-old former prime minister was returned to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after being taken to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical evaluations under an order from the Supreme Court.

While his lawyers and supporters reported that his health had deteriorated while in custody, the Pakistani government maintained that his medical assessments showed no conditions requiring urgent treatment.

Imran Khan served as Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2018 to 2022 and has been serving a 14-year prison sentence since 2023 over charges related to the sale of state gifts stored in the Toshakhana treasury. In December 2025, a court sentenced Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 17 years in prison in a separate corruption case, though Khan continues to dismiss all allegations against him as politically motivated.
