Iranian club Gol Gohar to play AFC Champions League two home matches in Tajikistan

Iranian football club Gol Gohar will play its home matches in the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Two group stage at Hisor Central Stadium in Tajikistan, the club’s press service has announced.

Iranian clubs are required to stage their Asian competition home matches outside the country this season. After considering several options, Gol Gohar chose Tajikistan as its neutral venue.

The club from Sirjan was drawn into Group B alongside Al Jazira of the United Arab Emirates, Al Muharraq of Bahrain and Arkadag of Turkmenistan. The draw was held in Kuala Lumpur.

Gol Gohar will face Arkadag in Hisor on October 28, with the return match scheduled for November 4 in Turkmenistan.

A total of 32 clubs will compete in the AFC Champions League Two group stage, divided into eight groups — four in the West and four in the East. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. The competition’s final is scheduled for May 15, 2027.

Gol Gohar is based in Sirjan, Kerman province, southern Iran, and normally plays its home matches at Qasem Soleimani Stadium, which has a capacity of around 9,000 spectators. The club competes in Iran’s Persian Gulf Pro League.

The club also has a recent connection with Tajik football. Tajik player Amadoni Kamolov joined Gol Gohar from Istiqlol in January 2025 and remained with the Iranian side until July 2026, when he became a free agent.

Gol Gohar Sirjan is the football team of the Gol Gohar Cultural Sports Club, a multisport organization that also includes a basketball team competing in the Iranian Basketball Super League. The football club is known for developing young players through its academy and promoting them to the senior squad.

Gol Gohar Football Club was founded by the Gol Gohar company in Sirjan in 1988 and initially competed in local competitions. In 1997, the Gol Gohar Sirjan Sports Club was formally established, bringing together several sports divisions, including football.

The club earned promotion to the Azadegan League, Iran’s second tier, for the first time in 2007. In the 2018/19 season, Gol Gohar won the league and secured promotion to the Persian Gulf Pro League, the country’s top division.
