Guyana, US sign MoU to deepen security cooperation

President Dr Irfaan Ali witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) intended to enhance the existing Memorandum of Security Cooperation between Guyana and the United States of America.

The MoU strengthens and deepens the long‑standing partnership, building on earlier cooperation in countering narcotics and wider security collaboration.

The signing took place at the Office of the President between Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Todd, and Deputy Secretary of State, Mr Christopher Landau.

Also in attendance were Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat; Foreign Secretary Mr Robert Persaud; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Sharon Roopchand‑Edwards; and US Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole Theriot.
