Entrepreneurs sue Bishkek City Hall over pavilion demolition –

, Bishkek – 24.kg news agency

Pavilion owners in Bishkek’s 12th microdistrict have filed lawsuits in the district court and with the prosecutor’s office, challenging the City Hall’s decision to dismantle their retail outlets. The entrepreneurs are currently awaiting the court’s decision.

They also met with members of the Bishkek City Council and the Zhogorku Kenesh to discuss the situation.

As the entrepreneurs told 24.kg news agency, they discovered that no budget funds were allocated for landscaping the area where the pavilions are located this year, and that there are no approved sketches or plans for the future park. According to the retail outlets owners, Zhogorku Kenesh deputy Dastan Bekeshev promised to look into the situation and facilitate a legal resolution.

The entrepreneurs also reported collecting over 600 signatures from residents in support of the pavilions’ preservation and requesting a review of the proposed demolition deadline.

The owners of the pavilions at the intersection of Aaly Tokombaev and Nurkamal Zhetikashkaeva Streets previously stated that, after assurances from city authorities that there were no plans to redevelop the area, they had invested in repairs and preparations for the fall/winter season. However, they later received notices demanding that they vacate the site within ten days to create a public garden.

The entrepreneurs emphasize that they are not opposed to the city’s improvements, but they are asking for time to relocate their businesses without incurring significant financial losses.

Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliev previously stated that dismantling was inevitable, but promised that the municipality would consider each entrepreneur’s situation individually, offer alternative retail locations, as well as vacancies in municipal structures with salaries of up to 60,000 soms.
