The Guyana Fire Service responded to a report of a fire at Lot 89 Lamaha Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown.

Firefighters from the Campbellville, Headquarters, and Eccles Fire Stations responded promptly and immediately commenced firefighting operations. Upon arrival, three homes were engulfed in flames.

Through their coordinated efforts, firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. However, two of the homes were completely destroyed, while a third sustained partial damage.

During the emergency response, it was reported that one occupant was unaccounted for. Following the successful suppression of the fire, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the premises and tragically discovered the charred remains of the missing occupant.

The Guyana Fire Service extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire.
