Maltese Woman Sets Up Cancer Support Group

A Maltese woman is launching a cancer support group for people between 25 and 40 years old.

“From talking about our diagnosis to navigating life after cancer, I want this to be an honest, safe space where we can share our hopes, fears, and everything in between – whether you need to talk, listen, share experiences, ask questions, or simply know you’re not alone, in a relaxed environment away from a clinical setting,” Fran Farrugia wrote on social media.

The group is intended for people of all genders who have been diagnosed with cancer, are living with or beyond cancer, or are supporting a partner, family member, or close friend through their journey

Farrugia, who owns a successful bakery, opened up about her own personal journey which started with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2023.

“Throughout my diagnosis, treatment, and my journey since then, I’ve gotten most of my courage by talking to fellow young adults and realising that all my emotions are valid, and I am not alone. Some things I’ve had to figure out by myself but others I could navigate thanks to someone else sharing their experience with me.”

The first session will be held on the 26th of August in the evening.
