Julianne Vella Appointed As Malta’s New United Nations Youth Delegate

This year saw a record 31 applications, reflecting increasing engagement from young people eager to contribute to international discussions and represent Malta abroad.

Speaking during the appointment, Fearne highlighted the importance of involving young people in foreign policy, saying their voices should be reflected in the decisions shaping today’s world.

He added that the programme offers young Maltese people a meaningful opportunity to participate in discussions at the United Nations.

Vella described the appointment as an honour and said she looks forward to representing Malta on the international stage.

“I look forward to working on behalf of Malta by bringing the voices of young Maltese people to United Nations forums and contributing to the promotion of peace, multilateralism and dialogue,” she said.

Vella has experience in youth representation, governance and international cooperation. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science and Politics at University College Dublin and has previously held a number of roles with both national and international youth organisations.
