Food Control Rejects Non-Compliant Shipment and Continues Inspection Campaigns in Sirte

Al Khums – The Food and Drug Control Center has rejected a shipment of high-protein milk drink imported from Germany under the “Ehrmann” brand for failing to meet approved food safety standards. The agency said in a statement that the shipment, totaling 3,192 dozen, arrived through Al Khums seaport but was rejected because more than one-third of its shelf life had expired and it was close to its expiration date.

Meanwhile, inspectors from the Food and Drug Control Center in Sirte, in cooperation with the Sirte Municipal Guard, continued inspection campaigns to monitor the compliance of food establishments with health and safety regulations. The campaigns covered several restaurants and food outlets. Inspectors discovered multiple violations and took legal action, which included shutting down some businesses and issuing violation reports to others.

During the inspections, authorities seized quantities of vegetables and food products deemed unfit for human consumption. These efforts are part of ongoing attempts by local agencies to ensure food safety and protect consumers.
