SANTA FE COUNTY, N.M. – State police say remains found days after a July 9 carjacking in Rio Chiquito belong to missing woman Jeanette Salazar.
New Mexico State Police said investigators identified Salazar after they found her remains on July 13.
The case began July 9 when state police responded to a carjacking in Rio Chiquito in Santa Fe County.
Police said a man told them someone stole his car with his girlfriend still inside.
That same day, state police arrested Danny Trujillo and Marcus Romero.
Police said Trujillo and Romero face several charges, including kidnapping.
State police said investigators later found the stolen car in Cordova.
At this time it’s unknown how Salazar died. State police said the Office of the Medical Investigator will determine the cause of death.
