The Greek men’s national team celebrated its first victory in Group C of the U20 EuroBasket, beating Belgium 84-69 in Ljubljana.
The Greek youngsters downed the Belgians to score their maiden win in Group C, with them sitting in third with three points.
Greece set up their win up with strong displays in the first two quarters, scoring 25 points to Belgium’s 13 in the first before scoring 18 points to the Belgians’ 11 in the second.
It gave them a lead of 19 points by the halfway point (the score being 43-24) which gave them a strong base en route to victory.
The Belgians outperformed Greece in the third quarter, scoring 22 points compared to Greece’s 18, though they went toe-to-toe in the final period at 23 points apiece to finish 84-69.
The Greek youth next face Spain tomorrow morning (14 July) at 2am AEST, with the Spaniards currently topping their group.
