A landslide in the popular Myrtos beach on the island of Kefalonia spread panic among the bathers who were enjoying the sun, the sea and the sand.

Large rocks along with soil started to detach from the slop above the Myrtos beach on the popular island in the Ionian Sea.

Moments of panic unfolded among the bathers and the landslide recorded on a video made the rounds on social media.

The footage shows how the point on the slop suddenly appears to retreat, the rocks fall down ending up on the beach and a large cloud of dust covers the area for a few seconds.

At the time of the landslide, there were people on the beach, however, according to information so far, there were no injuries.

There are warning signs at Myrtos beach informing visitors of the risk of landslides, as this is an area where similar phenomena have been recorded in the past.

Visitors are urged to follow safety instructions and avoid staying near steep slopes, especially when there are signs of ground instability.
