Death toll from twin Venezuela earthquakes rises to 3,342 with 50,000 missing

AKIPRESS.COM – The death toll from two devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 3,342, Reuters reported, citing government data.

Nearly 16,500 people were injured, and 17,300 Venezuelans have lost their homes.

The earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck Venezuela on June 24 and have been followed by more than 700 aftershocks.

The city of La Guaira, located north of the capital, was the hardest hit. Widespread destruction has also been recorded in Caracas, as well as in the states of Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, Lara, and Yaracuy.

According to United Nations data, 50,000 people remain listed as missing.
