Technology Exploration Day: Website Design
The Science Zone is hosting a Technology Exploration Day focusing on website design on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m.
“Join The Science Zone each month to discover computer science and other technology!” the event page states. “Designed for homeschool students of all ages, Technology Exploration Days encourage students to use logic, problem-solving, creativity, and more! This month: Website Design!”

‘Lab Girl’ Community Book Discussion
On Friday, the Natrona County Library is hosting a community book discussion focusing on the book “Lab Girl,” beginning at 2 p.m.
“Join us as we dig into ‘Lab Girl’ by Hope Jahren, our featured title for our NEA Big Read program,” the event page states. “Part memoir, part love letter to science, ‘Lab Girl’ explores the fascinating world of plants while telling the story of Jahren’s life in research, friendship, and discovery. There will be four discussions, so please register for the one you wish to attend. In ‘Lab Girl,’ Jahren reflects on her life as a scientist, her deep connection to the natural world, and her experiences living with bipolar disorder. In this discussion, we will explore the book’s themes of curiosity, resilience, and the quiet brilliance of the natural world. Whether you are a science enthusiast, a memoir reader, or simply curious about the hidden lives of plants and scientists, this conversation will offer plenty to think about.”

Paper Swords and Aquile w/ Special Guests
Oil City Beer Company is hosting a concert for the ages on Friday, featuring Paper Swords and Aquile, along with special guests. The show begins at 6:30 p.m.
“Join Paper Swords and Aquile for an all-ages live music event at Oil City Beer on Friday, May 22,” the event page states. “This special show is also the single release party for ‘Breathe In The Light,’ the debut release from Paper Swords, available on paperswords.music and all major streaming platforms one week earlier. ‘Breathe In The Light’ is an indie darkwave pop track that follows the story of an engineer in the future traversing time to find his lost love. The evening will also feature a live showing of the short film, making this a unique multimedia release event.”

The Rialto is hosting stand-up comedian Brian Bates on Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
“Brian Bates is a Nashville-based comedian who tours the country performing at comedy clubs, theaters, corporate events, and churches,” the event page states. “You may have seen his Dry Bar Comedy specials or heard him as a guest on The Grand Ole Opry. He can also be heard regularly on LaughUSA on SiriusXM radio. When not on the road, Brian joins fellow comedians Nate Bargatze, Aaron Weber and Dusty Slay as one of the hosts of the ‘NateLand Podcast,’ which is heard by thousands of listeners each week.”
