THANKS TO OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS
CASPER, Wyo. — Sunday is here, and it’s the perfect day to relax, recharge and reinvigorate so that you’re ready for the upcoming week. It’s also the perfect day to take in a show. Or two. From A Few Good Men to The Enchanted Bookshop, this is what’s happening Sunday in the Oil City.
Once Upon A Child is hosting its 11th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, and the community is invited to a storewide sale, beginning at 9 a.m.
“We’re Celebrating 11 Years!” the event page states. “Once Upon A Child Casper is turning 11-and it’s all thanks to YOU! The theme is all things 11. 11% off storewide, 11 books for $11, 11 bodysuits for $11.”
Happening at 9 a.m.
Thereaexpressions Meditation is hosting a 6-week workshop focusing on aerial yoga on Sundays, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
“If you are a beginner wanting to learn aerial yoga, this workshop is for you!” the event page states. “This six week aerial yoga workshop will teach you the basics, and have you confidently moving in the silks in no time. In aerial yoga we use silk hammocks as a prop for stretching, strengthening, yoga poses, inversions, swinging, flying, and you get to lay in the hammock for the final pose of every class, Savasana! This is a fun, comprehensive, and rewarding way to learn aerial. Classes will be one day a week. Each class will be 75 minutes long. Cost is $150.00 per person for the full 6 weeks.”
Happening at 1:30 p.m.
‘The Enchanted Bookshop’
The Casper Children’s Theatre is producing “The Enchanted Bookshop” this weekend, Friday through Sunday. The show is at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
“During the day, A Likely Story may look like any other used bookstore,” the event page states. “But at night, it’s a place where magic happens. That’s when the characters inside the books come alive. Six of those characters — Dorothy Gale, Robin Hood, Pollyanna, Sherlock Holmes, Heidi, and Tom Sawyer — long to help Margie, the scatterbrained owner, save her struggling store. But they’re not allowed to leave the building or be seen by human eyes. So when a pair of smugglers comes looking for a stolen necklace hidden inside one of the books, the characters are torn. Should they warn Margie and risk disappearing forever? Or can they find a way to defeat the crooks without being seen?”
Happening at 2 p.m.
Stage III is presenting its rendition of “A Few Good Men,” happening May 1–17 at the Stage III Community Theatre, located at 900 N. Center St.
“This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage,” the event page states. “The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.”
