2 dead in fiery crash near Riverton

RIVERTON, Wyo. — Two people were pronounced dead in a fiery crash near Riverton.

A preliminary report from the Bureau of Indian Affairs says that a Dodge vehicle was traveling northbound on Mission Road in Fremont County at a high rate of speed, approaching Goes in Lodge Road, when it failed to negotiate a left curve and ran off the roadway to the right.

The Dodge drop up the roadway embankment in Goes in Lodge Road and vaulted approximately 154 feet. The Dodge rolled end-over-end approximately three times, struck a utility pole while airborne, and came to rest on it wheels, where it caught fire.

The report states that speed and other factors are being considered as possible contributing factors. Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry.

The driver and passenger of the Dodge were Kalvin Yellowbear, and Rosario Lopez, both 23 years old and from Wyoming.

Seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash.
