CASPER, Wyo. — Musicians from across the state will gather this weekend for the 2026 Wyoming Spring Ring handbell concert. The performance begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, in the ballrooms of the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center.
Attendees may provide a free will offering at the event. Brian Childers, a composer and conductor based in Charlotte, North Carolina, will direct the ensemble. Childers serves as the director of handbells and children and youth music at Myers Park United Methodist Church and is the artistic director of the Charlotte Bronze Handbell Ensemble.
“His choral, instrumental, and handbell compositions are performed throughout the world,” Carolyn Deuel said. “He is in demand as a featured clinician at music conferences and festivals across the nation. Brian’s compositions and arrangements are available through a variety of publishers.”
Winter musical events also are scheduled for later this year. Singers may now register for rehearsals for the annual Festival Choir and Orchestra Concert. Rehearsals take place at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Saturdays from 4 to 6 p.m. starting Oct. 26.
The rehearsal schedule continues until the concert on Friday, Dec. 13, though no practice will occur during Thanksgiving weekend. A $15 registration fee is required to help cover costs. Interested participants may contact Deuel at 307-265-1564 for more information.
The December program features a variety of works with piano and orchestral accompaniment, including Mark Hayes’s “Soli Deo Gloria” performed by joint choirs and orchestra. The Phoenix Ringers Handbell Choir will perform gathering music starting at 7 p.m. prior to the 7:30 p.m. concert.
