Flashback Cinema: ‘The Wizard of Oz’
She’ll get you, her pretty. And your little dog, too! Studio City Mesa and Flashback Cinema are partnering together once again to present the perennial classic “The Wizard of Oz” on the big screen, happening Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. at Studio City Mesa.
“Before there was Wicked, there was The Wizard of Oz,” the event page states. “Follow the yellow brick road with Dorothy and her friends in this beloved Technicolor musical. With Judy Garland as Dorothy (‘Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…’), Billie Burke as Glinda the Good Witch of the North (‘Are you a good witch or a bad witch?’) and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West.”
Happening at 1:35 p.m.
Stage III is presenting its rendition of “A Few Good Men,” happening May 1–17 at the Stage III Community Theatre, located at 900 N. Center St.
“This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage,” the event page states. “The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.”
Happening Sunday.
