VALLEY CITY- The Hi-Liners snapped a three-game losing streak with a 13-3 run-rule win over Kidder County in five innings.
James Schwehr delivered a strong performance on the mound, striking out seven and limiting the Wolves’ offense. At the plate, the Hi-Liners took advantage of Kidder County starter Tayvn Larson, who allowed all 13 runs.
Valley City broke through in the first inning, scoring three runs with two outs. The Hi-Liners combined timely hitting with defensive miscues, with Schwehr adding an RBI single.
The offense continued in the second, as Valley City scored six runs. Corbyn Powell, Leighton Hendrickson, Chase Coghlan and Luke Praska each recorded RBIs in the inning.
The Hi-Liners added three more runs in the third to build a commanding lead.
Kidder County showed life in the fifth inning, recording four hits and scoring three runs — two earned — to make it 12-3.
Valley City ended the game in the bottom half. Jack Samuelson hit a double, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on a wild pitch to secure the run-rule victory.
Valley City will return to action Saturday for a doubleheader against Thompson and Langdon Area-Munich.
