VALLEY CITY, ND (Ryan Cunningham, NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner boys basketball team will be in search of a new coach.
Jim McDaniel has stepped down from his position. He met with the team to inform them of his decision this morning.
Superintendent Josh Johnson says the position was announced internally this morning. It will be posted outside of the district early next week. Under district guidelines, teachers in the district have the opportunity to fill the job first, if there is interest.
McDaniel was named the head coach of the program in October of 2023, replacing Ty Terry, who spent one year in the district. Valley City will have it’s fourth head boys basketball coach in six years.
Valley City finished 4-19 this past season, including an upset win over Kindred in the opening round of the Region 1A tournament.
