PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has assured residents of Kafue District that government will construct a dual carriageway from Lusaka to Kafue Bridge to ease traffic challenges.

He said following his visit to Kafue this afternoon, the President said the Road Development Agency [RDA] has already been directed to work on the project.

“From Lusaka to Kafue Bridge, we shall put a dual carriageway and the RDA has already been directed. This is aimed at controlling the traffic challenges,” President Hichilema said.

The President said his government remains committed to delivering water supply and road infrastructure, and creating more job opportunities in Kafue.

He highlighted planned business opportunities, including a vehicle assembly plant under the Multi-Facility Economic Zone [MFEZ] to be set up in Kafue.

“We are determined to continue delivering development. Water, road infrastructure will equally continue receiving our unwavering support,” he stated.

“We shall continue to deliver jobs, business opportunities in sectors such as the vehicle assembly under the MFEZ which will be done right here in Kafue.”

President Hichilema also addressed concerns over job security in the public service ahead of the August elections.

“Do not listen to those saying they will fire you from the public service. You are protected. Ours is to protect your jobs and create even more. You only develop a Nation by creating more opportunities for its people,” he said.

He urged residents to vote for UPND in August, saying “We started this journey together and together we shall continue making Zambia better.”

“Thank you very much people of Kafue for your continued support and understanding. Together, let’s keep moving Zambia forward.”
