BROADCASTER Mary Kasoka-Mwiikisa has officially signed off from the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) after 16 years of service, closing what she described as “a bittersweet chapter” of her career.

Mary walked out of Studio 2 today following her final presentation of Morning Live, with what she said were “teary eyes.”

In an emotional farewell message, Mary reflected on a journey that took her from production to the newsdesk, studio presenting, and programme production.

Over the years she became a familiar voice and face on ZNBC through shows including: Climate Check, Morning Live, Kwacha Good Morning Zambia, Real Love, Baby Talk, Africa Music Safari and Let’s Talk.

“For 16 years, I had the privilege of informing, engaging, and telling stories that mattered,” she wrote. “Every experience has shaped me both professionally and personally.”

Mary extended gratitude to four key groups that carried her through her ZNBC journey:

To ZNBC Management: “Thank you for the opportunity, the trust, and the platform to grow, serve, and contribute to public broadcasting.”

To Colleagues: “Thank you for your friendship, teamwork, laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support. It has truly been an honour to work alongside some of the most talented and dedicated professionals in the industry.”

To Viewers: “Thank you for welcoming me into your homes, for your feedback, your encouragement, and for believing in the work we did. Your support made every broadcast worthwhile.”

To Family and Friends: “Thank you for being my greatest source of strength. Your prayers, patience, sacrifices, and constant encouragement carried me through the demanding days.”

While closing this chapter, Mary said she is excited for what lies ahead.

“As I close this beautiful chapter, I do so with immense gratitude and with excitement for the opportunity to continue serving Zambia in a new capacity. The microphone may be down, but my passion for communicating, informing, and making a positive impact remains stronger than ever.”

“This is not goodbye—it’s simply the beginning of a new chapter,” she added.

Mary did not announce her next role, but said it will involve continued service to the nation.
