PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema thanked thousands of residents who attended a campaign meeting in Livingstone on Monday, pledging more infrastructure, jobs and security for Zambia’s tourist capital.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much nobana Livingstone in Southern Province for coming in thousands to our meeting today,” Hichilema said in a statement.

He said the government will continue delivering development and ensure Livingstone retains its status as the country’s tourist capital.

“More infrastructure is coming to the tourist capital and out of which more jobs, business opportunities will fall in place,” he said. “Rural and urban roads will be done. More security street lights will be put in place.”

Hichilema also said volunteers across different fields will continue to be employed “as they have shown dedication to serving the country.”

He urged residents to turn out in large numbers in the Aug. 13, 2026 elections.

“This August, wake up early in the morning and go and vote for us in thousands like you came to the meeting today. Your vote will enable us continue delivering for Zambia,” he said. “God Bless Zambia.”
