Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Pension Fund of Uzbekistan and the Social Fund of Kyrgyzstan have reached a preliminary agreement on a mechanism for paying pensions to citizens of both countries.

Talks between the delegations took place in Tashkent on 12–13 August. The Uzbek side was led by Muradbek Atadzhanov, Executive Director of the Pension Fund, while the Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Gulmira Dzhumataeva, Deputy Chair of the Social Fund.

During the meeting, the sides discussed draft intergovernmental agreements on state social insurance and pension provision, as well as an implementation treaty. Certain articles were clarified to align with national legislation.

The future agreement provides equal rights for citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to receive insurance and state pensions, while also preventing double payment of insurance contributions.

According to the Kyrgyz Social Fund, the document stipulates the aggregation of insurance periods for pension entitlement. Payments will be made directly to recipients in both countries, without deductions for delivery costs and regardless of their place of residence.

The agreement also includes provisions on secondment and extension of employment terms, which will help avoid duplicate contributions.

The Kyrgyz fund emphasized that implementation of the deal will also open new opportunities for cooperation, including major infrastructure projects such as the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
