Waverly now under burn ban until end of harvest

WAVERLY, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 23, Waverly Fire and Rescue (WFR) announced a burn ban until the end of harvest.

WFR said no new burn permits will be issued until the ban is lifted.

The crop residue and the grasses are dry. They said the grasses will burn even with recent heavy rains.

WFR wrote, “We don’t want to fight fires in harvested and, more importantly, unharvested fields.”

Harvest season typically ends in November or early December.
