Vicksburg community rallies around injured sawmill worker

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A donut shop in Vicksburg started a GoFundMe for a former employee who was injured while working at a sawmill.

On October 6, 2025, Eric Jones, 20, lost his left arm during the accident at the SWS Sawmill in the 2500 block of Highway 3 in Warren County. Friends said Jones recently started work at the sawmill after leaving his longtime job at Divine Donuts.

Kelli Campbell, the owner of the donut shop, said once she heard about the accident, she turned to God.

“All I knew to do at that moment was pray. And I just started praying. I just prayed that the Lord hand would would be on Eric and that he would just intervene and keep him intact and keep him safe and allow all things to to move as they should,” Campbell said.

She said Jones is a light within the community and that his interactions with customers were infectious.

“They didn’t even know his name. They just knew that he greeted them with a smile. That he was always so kind, always energetic, enthusiastic,” she said.
